This week I’m doing a historical fiction workshop over at Romance Divas. They’re putting me through the wringer with good and interesting questions about writing, fiction and chickens.
Carolyn’s Workshop at Romance Divas. Even after this week is done, the link will be good, so please do come by, ask questions, leave comments, admire my brilliance or even disagree.
Here are some other interesting links I’ve come across lately:
The Medieval Chronicle – subscription: Ooooh….
How to Write a Great Query Letter Free download from agent Noah Lukeman.
Canting Dictionary – 1736 Thieving Slang
Historic Cities Oh, maps and sh– stuff!
Crime Broadsides Project, Harvard Law Dying Speeches and Bloody Murders. Regency era material here. Check it out.
These look very interesting. Especially the last one. I fear my work day has suddenly gone down the tubes and I will be researching Dying Speeches and Bloody Murders for the rest of the day. I’m planning a murder mystery dinner for next year. Surely this is just research for that, right?
Crap! I do have a 1:30PM meeting. Okay I will check out the rest after that.
Me again! I am trying to help a struggling museum that actually has quite a sordid history (early oil and the wickedest man alive lived in the area) and think the broadsheets would be a great attraction. They do a ghost tour and think that people wandering around shouting out scandals and deaths would be awesome. So thanks, Carolyn. I printed one out to show them and think we could go to old newspapers and come up with some.
Cool! Glad the link helped you out.
Sounds fabulous, Jane ! Wish I could come by!
Thanks, Carolyn! I will definitely check these out!
Still plugging away at the last 100 pages of the book that WILL NOT DIE!
Great links, Carolyn! I’m actually doing an article next month (the 18th) for the Medieval Chronicle on Elizabethan ladies-in-waiting. I think they will be a good source for info on the period. 🙂
Get thee behind me, Satan…I mean Carolyn. These links do look great and much much too tempting!
