I can’t believe Christmas is only a few days away! I still have to finish some shopping and buy ingredients for holiday cupcakes, but the dance recital is behind me (aside from one child’s eating-confetti incident, all went well and the little sugarplums were all adorable!) and writing work is waiting for me. It’s time to make a few Christmas lists.
I already bought some of my own presents, like a Kindle 3, a cute new purple bike (to encourage myself to exercise more in the new year–now that I’ve said it here I have to do it), and a ballgown that I guess will have to wait for RWA next summer since I can’t really wear it to Target or the dog park. I have a few things on my wish list I am pretty sure I won’t be getting. Like a villa in Provence:
Or Ian Somerhalder:
Or a tiara to go with my new dress:
But I do have a few things that are a little more feasible! And if you have another TV watching history geek on your list, they might like one of these too…
Big Ben and Eiffel Tower Barbies!
This Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire doll from Madame Alexander! (They also have a fab Anne Boleyn doll…)
Anything Hello Kitty (of course!)
This ring from Tartx (or any numbers of things from there, they have so many gorgeous items…)
Balenciaga Paris shower gel (this has become my new perfume obsession this year!)
And books, CDs, and DVDs of costume dramas are always welcome under my tree! 🙂 (Books and movies are waiting to be wrapped for everyone on my own list–but shh! Don’t tell them)
Have a wonderful holiday, and thanks so much to all our readers for visiting the Riskies and making this so much fun for me! What is on your wish list this Christmas?? What have you bought for everyone else?
I have to confess, my BIG wish is already wrapped and set out – it’s a Color Nook. I can’t believe how utterly cool this gadget is! My husband thinks it was his idea because the books were filling up too many rooms and overflowing the shelves… (Now I can have 4000 regency titles on one handy dandy little book-like thing)

Gift cards!!! my mainstay.
I have nothing on my wish list this year which is making it hard for the family.
Susan, I hope you enjoy your color Nook! And Amanda, I’m sure you will love your Kindle. And your bike. And I can’t wait to see the ball gown!
Does your ball gown look anything like that gorgeous red gown Gina McKee wears in “The Forsyte Saga”? I just want to have an occasion for which a ball gown is appropriate — my life tends more toward events where dressing up is wearing my black jeans instead of the regular blue denim ones.
OT: I love Gina McKee. She’s a VG actress, and I tend to love faces that can change from stunning to plain and back again — they have such character and are never boring. Sean Bean fits this category as well; his jawline can seem too heavy from certain angles, which throws off the proportions of his face. However, at other angles he’s beautiful, and no matter what the angle my heart definitely beats faster when looking at him.
P.S. Even more OT — I grew up in Arizona (first Tucson, then Phoenix), so a shout-out to Susan in AZ.
That is quite a list! I bought books for my family again this year. Mom is getting some romance novels and some animal biographies. (She has started collecting them since she read Marley and Me and Dewey the Library Cat.
The niece is getting books on forensics as she has decided that is what she wants to study in college.
My cake decorating SIL is getting a book on cupcake designs and Martha Stewart’s cupcake recipe book.
My ghost hunting SIL is getting a book on the souls of animals. A researcher chronicles stories of animals returning to visit loved ones in spirit form as proof that yes, all dogs go to heaven. LOL I knew that!
The brothers and the nephews are getting books on manly subjects like military history, architectural history, politics and our Native American heritage.
I just hope they used my Amazon wish list to shop for me!!
I can’t think of a Christmas where I didn’t get or give at least one book.
I’d love to have an excuse to buy a ball gown other than to play dress up.
Have a wonderful Holiday Season.
Louisa, those sound like some very well-chosen book-presents! (and can I come to the cupcake making SIL’s house please?). I just got back from a busy day of finishing up my gift shopping, and trying not to buy all the books for me…
Susan in AZ, I think I will need a Color Nook as the next step in my e-reading! It looks so fabulous, and it would be great to be able to read magazines on it.
Susan/DC, I wish I could find a red dress like that one! I love “The Forsyte Saga” and also love Gina McKee (when this series first came out, I couldn’t believe it when some people said she couldn’t be Irene because she was “not pretty enough”! I thought she was perfect in the part, mysterious and cultured with hidden depths…). My new dress is black and hot pink, long and strapless, it looks sort of 1950s-ish to me
Black & Hot Pink, slinky Red, doesn’t matter, I love gowns! Thanks, Susan/DC, I hope you don’t get too many ice storms this winter.
