In two weeks, Liz Maverick and I will be presenting a workshop on social media during RWA’s National Conference. It’s titled:
Tweet it, Blog it, Face it: Self-Promoting with Social Media
and it’s all about, yeah, how writers might use social media to promote themselves and their work.
So–as an author, what would you most like to know how to do? What to do? When to do it?
Thanks for the help!
You make me wish I could be there, Megan! There will be tapes, right?
I’ve been happily writing away in my cave, but I know that eventually I need to catch up on social media. What I’d like to know is how to use it effectively and preserve the writing time.
I’m with Elena. I am SO not working all of this social media with skill and I’d love to know how to do so without eating up valuable writing time.
Also, are there certain social media that offer more to romance writers in the way of getting your name out there and attracting readers?
I would like SOMEBODY to explain Twitter to me. I just don’t get it….I can’t even figure out how to retweet and add my own message to the tweet.
I’d also love for you to tell me how to effectively use social media without it sucking up all your time.
Twitter is so nimble and capable of reaching so many more people than FB. I like Twitter.
But one of the big issues for all of social media is how to reach your readers, your target audience, not just writers (who are cool and fun, but marketing only amongst ourselves is just not the thing.)
That’s what I’m struggling with currently, how to connect with READERS. So far, book blogs and GoodReads seem like the best routes, but if you can pinpoint more options, you’re gold. The book I have out is YA, which is a bit different marketing animal than romance.
