I love history because some cool stuff happened and we’re learning to look at history with different lenses. Like this one:

History, as it could have been. Maybe. And maybe as it is today.

Beaton has schwag. I would send you to her store but there are some NSFW images there.
History is contextual. How much do we miss by not understanding the inside joke?
When we teach history, too often we don’t do a good job.

History was harsh. 500 years from now (we should be so lucky) what will comics be saying about the things that kill us today?
Why do you love history?
A good cartoon can get a point across better than several pages of words. I love comparative studies of all sorts. Taking what we know today and comparing it to our history books and common knowledge makes for some interesting revelations. History is always seen from a perspective. The old saying “History is written by the winners” is so true. One of the classes I took in college was not to study history in a book, but to go our and do the types of research needed to write a history book. It was interesting and an eye opener. Since then, I have always read or listened to what is being said about history and current events, taken a step back to make sure all the facts are in, then I decide how much of it I believe or how much more needs tobe found out.
thanks for the cartoons.
