I had a new book release this weekend!!! (I know, another one! It’s been a crazy book autumn, but now you will have a break from me until April, when my second Amanda Carmack mystery, Murder at Westminster Abbey, comes out…). This month it’s Running From Scandal, book two of the Bancrofts of Barton Park duet.
The past is always hot on your heels…
Emma Bancroft used to pride herself on her sensible nature, but good sense flew out the window during her first Season in London! Her reputation and her belief in true love in tatters, she reluctantly returns home to Barton Park.
David Marton is trying to live a quiet life—until Emma comes sweeping back. With whispers of scandal all about her, he knows she will never be the right woman for him, but sometimes temptation is just too hard to resist….
When I was working on book one (The Runaway Countess, the story of Emma’s sister Jane and her estranged husband), I knew Emma would be the heroine of book two, but I wasn’t sure who her hero would be. I loved her free-spirited, digging-in-the-dirt exuberance, and wasn’t sure who would match her! She followed her heart, which didn’t always lead her down the right path. Then I noticed the sparks she had with the seemingly strait-laced neighbor, David Marton, and thought…what if???
I loved spending time with Emma and David! Their romance was inspired by the 193os screwball comedies I love so much. Bringing Up Baby, The Awful Truth, The Lady Eve…all deliciously frothy and fun stories of madcap heroines teaching too-serious heroes how to have fun, while the heroes give the heroines stability and security in love. I also fell in love with David’s daughter Beatrice, who does not want a new mama–until the right one comes along.
“Including a darling little girl, meddling relatives, and a bit of suspense, McCabe’s story charms readers and gives them an enjoyable read…” –RT BookReviews

any movie with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle
Favorite romantic movies/pairings–Strictly Ballroom, Emma and Jane Eyre.
I love Strictly Ballroom!!!
I was never one for Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn, but anyone with Cary Grant worked for me. Grant and Rosalind Russell in His Girl Friday was a treat.
(I love Strictly Ballroom, too!)
I like Doris Day & David Niven in Please Don’t eat the Daisies. Watched this one with my Grandma years ago & it was fun! Good memories 🙂 Colin Firth & Jennifer Eyle in the TV series Pride and Prejudice, really good match. Seen this one often. Loved Audrey Hepburn besides George Peppard, Breakfast at Tiffany’s 😀 She’s great in this one! A more recent couple I adored is Rachel McAdams + Channing Tatum, The Vow. Wasn’t a fan of him as an actor, but in this movie he is really good.
I, too, have enjoyed the light-hearted romances with Tom Hanks, but a favorite remains the classic Affair to Remember.
I too love anything Cary Grant is in as he combines that smooth sophistication with complete incredulity when the women in his life do crazy things! LOVED him in Father Goose!
Bringing Up Baby is another favorite.
And I LOVE Philadelphia Story – Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart? Are you kidding me!
And It Happened One Night with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert! So many people just think if Gable in GWTW, but he was wonderful in romantic comedy!
Oh great! When I look at this list I realize I make myself sound REALLY OLD! However, they just don’t write many romantic comedies for film like these!
My favorite pairings: Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn in (Roman Holiday – I swoon.), Jimmy Stewart and Katherine Hepburn (Philadelphia Story – adorable), Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn (Bringing Up Baby is one of my favorites too!!), Ray Milland and Ginger Rogers (The Major and the Minor- Have you seen this one? Another screwball.), Audrey Hepburn and Peter O’Toole/Rex Harrison/Cary Grant…Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, Fred and Ginger, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby…just seein’ if you’re payin’ attention. 🙂
Angelina and Brad- Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Johnny and Baby in Dirty Dancing
Dirty Dancing Johnny & Babe, Patrick & Linda Grey didn’t know how to spell Patrick’s last name and I think I got the Grey.
Also Pretty Woman Richard Gere & Julia Roberts!
Richard Gere and Julia Roberts are lovely in Pretty woman! 🙂
Just wondering if a winner was ever chosen for your giveaway.
